Note:
Effective January 2007, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) began computing percent changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) based upon three decimal place indexes rather than one decimal place indexes. This change addresses a rounding issue that resulted in BLS published percent changes that are 0.1 percentage point higher or lower than the same percent changes based on unrounded index values. Consequently, for years prior to 2007, percentage changes in the CPI calculated below may be slightly different from those published by BLS due to this rounding issue.
